A PERSONAL MESSAGE FOR READERS AND LISTENERS: To my Le Batard Show fans, podcast family and longtime Herald readers, many of you know by now that my son Chris (I still call him Christopher) revealed Sunday night he is among the 300 ESPN employees who have been let go in the company's massive layoffs. Working for a corporate entity myself in the newspaper business, I am very familiar with layoffs, buyouts and money-driven "downsizing." I have seen friends and colleagues let go for reasons not based on merit of job performance. But this is personal. It hits my family. We have been heartbroken. I know nobody loved his job more or worked harder at it than Chris did in his role as a producer and on-air presence on the Dan Le Batard Show With Stugotz. This is unfair and it makes me angry. But I also realize Chris is just one of 300 victims of ESPN's cuts, and that millions in America are struggling with situations far worst in terrible 2020. Chris' attitude has been gracious and optimistic in a way that has made me proud as a father. Dan and the show have been terrific and supportive. And the massive outpouring of love and support from Le Batard Show fans has moved us and lifted our family. Thank you all so much. I will return in my regular weekly role next Tuesday. Thank you all again for the support you have shown Chris. It means more than you know.

PicksLoboslogoNFL PIX 'N FANTASY: WEEK 9 RESULTS: NFL Pix--Solid but not great: Went 10-4 straight-up (pretty good in this strangest of seasons) and an OK 7-7 against the spread. Needed the Pats to cover Monday night for a much better 8-6 ATS. Note to self: Quit betting on Belichick. His team isn't very good. The highlights of my week: Nailed our Upset of the Week with Giants beating Washington ("Aawwk!"). Also had two 'dogs-with-points in covers by Dolphins at Arizona and Saints at Tampa Bay. Glad you're with us on our 30th season of picks in the Herald! Greg's Lobos: Awful, and it's on me: Lobos lost a third straight game, 147-82, falling to 4-5 in PFPI Fantasy, our friends 'n family 10-team PPR league. It is never a good sign when your tight end with 15 points (Evan Engram) is your leading scorer. But I deserved to lose because I carelessly started two players who'd been questionable but later were ruled out; Chris Carson and T.Y. Hilton. That isn't why I lost, but it was a factor. It's been a Lobos season full of bad luck (Dak Prescott, Michael Thomas) that has cast me in an underdog role. I am now off playoff pace at 4-5, by a tiebreaker. Still have a shot with four weeks left in our regular season.
