Three Dolphins QBs combined for 22 completions in 30 attempts for 281 yards and three TDs, most of the damage done early by Henne. And Brandon Marshall, shut out last week, caught four balls for 65 yards.
Nolan Carroll appeared to solidify his claim to the kick-return job. Most of the negatives were on defense, with only one sack and uneven play in the secondary.
Original post: Miami looked somewhat sloppy in last week's exhibition debut, a 10-7 win at home vs. Tampa Bay. Now tonight the Dolphins seek improvement against another NFL bottom-feeder in the Jacksonville Jaguars. (Fun fact about Jacksonville: Its official civic motto is, "The City That Doesn't Smell As Bad As It Used To.") Things worth looking out for in the game:
1. Does the first-team offense, especially Chad Henne-to-Brandon Marshall, click in a way it did not last week? Let us all pray Marshall has an impact night because the alternative -- more drops, another zero-catch game -- means Your Friend the Overanalyzing Media will turn "What's Wrong With Brandon!?" into a mushroom cloud. Also need to see a sharper, penalty-free effort from the offensive line.
2. Will the Dolphins show signs they can generate consistent pass pressure in non-blitz situations? Jags look like a sackable opponent and a chance for guys like Cameron Wake and rookie Koa Misi to shine.
3. Who'll step forward to claim the kick-return job? C'mon, now. Don't make us start wishing Ted Ginn Jr. was still here!
Your comments are welcome here before, during and of course after tonight's game. Tell us when it's over who most impressed you or didn't.
Note: Our Unofficial Live Boutique Blog will be taking the night off because I'll be attending my wife's high-school reunion at a local hotel, imbibing, trying to be invisible, and working steadfastly to avoid the dance floor. So the Dolphins and y'all are on your own.
