Highlights from Media Day

Well, this was easily the picture of the day in San Antonio:

That's some guy from a late night talk show holding up a stick of beef jerky in Shane Battier's face, of course.

Beef jerky is always key to a successful NBA Finals Media Day. There was other fun stuff, too, including Birdman slapping my hand so hard it now hurts to type this blog post. Mostly, though, it was a bunch of reporters surrounding players and lobbing up questions like this one, posed to Spurs guard Danny Green:

"Their biggest difference is probably their hairlines. LeBron's is fading back and Tim's has really had a rejuvenation. Are you proud of the way Tim's hair has bounced back here at 38 years old."

Green: "Tim is actually looking better and better each game with the haircuts. He's started getting more cuts. He's starting to look younger. Not saying he looks old, but Tim is doing well. Bu we're going to go to the comparisons of the haircuts."

SOME OTHER NOTEWORTHY WORDS OF BRILLIANCE:

Manu Ginobili, perhaps the only person from Argentina to ever say this about the World Cup: "Not really into it."

Chris Bosh, stating the obvious: “Being in this situation over and over, we just have an opportunity to play the game.”

Gregg Popovich, on losing to assistants in the offseason to head coaching positions elsewhere: "They're gone. The heck with them. They're gone...It was a tough adjustment, in all honesty."

Tim Duncan, on his back and forth through the media with LeBron. LeBron said he could tell Duncan didn't like the Heat: "I don't know what he was talking about, but if he needs to find fuel in that, so be it."
