Heat practice report: Monday

  • Forward Dorell Wright's availability is uncertain for Tuesday's exhibition at AmericanAirlines Arena against Memphis. He said he feels ready to make his preseason, saying, "My knee is good." Coach Erik Spoelstra didn't rule out Wright but made it sound more likely that he might make his preseason debut later this week.

"He made it thorugh the whole practice," Spoelstra said. "At times he looked fluid, at times he looked fine, at times I could see a little bit of a limp in his gait."

  • Point guard Shaun Livingston (knee) was icing his knee off to the side during the last few minutes of practice that were open to the media. Spoelstra said Livingston participated in almost the entire practice, including the drills and 5-on-5 portion. Spoelstra indicated that both Livingston and Wright want to play this week.
  • Rookie forward Michael Beasley was practicing his three-point shooting after practice, sinking several in a row. "I can shoot," he said. "I've been working on it. Every day before and after practice I (take) 50-100 sometimes 200 three-point shots."

So does he have the green light from Spo to shoot beyond the arc in games? " I went 2 for 2 last game," Beasley said. "I think I got the yellow now. I'm going to ease on into it."

  • Forward James Jones said after practice Monday that he underwent successful surgery Saturday to repair the ruptured tendon in his right wrist. He said the three-month timetable for his return is a "conservative" estimate.
