He just wanted the batteries out of it. Bears have a hard time getting hold of fresh batteries.

The bears that pass through my NH back yard don't have to steal a game camera. I have an old one I'll be happy to give them to play with if they wave at me.
The squirrels, on the other hand, can play with their nuts.
