I'm guessing these "scientists" couldn't even put together a decent-looking science fair display when they were in grade school.

I was thinking they've installed a 'clapper' and if we Earthlings can cooperate our applause enough, we can affect a dim.

If you live in the polar regions this is not a great idea. Solar powered fans for the deserts is a better idea.

Yeah, they need to dim the sun because it's always so sunny and hot in the UK. It's not like folks have problems trying to heat their homes in winter.
And now they've installed millions of solar panels it makes sense to reduce the amount of sunlight falling on them.
