Dave says, "Go team!" Team starts with T. Taylor Swift also starts with T. She's dating a Chiefs player whose name also starts with a T. So I think we can conclude which team Dave is rooting for.
I believe Monkey Clash is performing at half time.

Super Bowl Highlights...

I do kind of enjoy the Super Bowl ad where the clueless newsman says, "Go, Super Bowl LIV" (pronounced Liv, as in Liv Ullman).

I will certainly be enjoying the brief glimpses of football between the commercials.

Well I won't be watching this gladiatorial special. Will there be lions? Wait, they were eliminated. Too bad, their are some people that deserve to be thrown.
We who are about to have brain injuries salute you!

The Super Bowl crowd gathered on our farm in Northland, NZ is pulsating, wild, energized, insane and, well, actually, there's nobody here. The sheep and alpaca and chickens are in the shade at 12.31pm. But even so, they are pulsating. Don't you worry about that.

"Worst halftime show ever" is what happens when they don't put a marching band out there as the good deity intended.
Other than that, I couldn't care less. Didn't watch it, didn't listen to it. I watched a few Gilligan's Island reruns that I had recorded from MeTV and that was a much more satisfying viewing experience.

Wanderer!!! I agree!!! Bring back the marching bands! I have long believed that the Super Bowl should feature high school and college marching bands from the surrounding community. Have a local competition if time is limited- top three bands get to perform their greatest hit adaptations and then all three join in for a rousing finale featuring anything by John Philip Sousa. Be way better than whatever that was they showed last night. Or at any Super Bowl halftime for the last 20 years...

Thunder Lizard, how about the band from the college national champion? Super Bowl would be a nice reward for them.
Posted by: Rod | February 10, 2025 at 01:11 PM
If high school and college bands in the surrounding community aren't flashy enough, how about bringing in the winner of the annual high school Bands of America Grand National Championship (every November at Lucas Oil Stadium, or whatever it's called, in Indianapolis). Or the winner of the annual Drum Corps International World Championship (every August, I think).

I was hoping both teams lost.

@Rod and @Wanderer: Both excellent suggestions. Make the Super Bowl worth watching again!
(I know the blog has moved on to consider other pressing issues, but I wanted to record my support for improving the halftime shows. Thank you. You may return now to whatever existential crisis is grabbing the headlines.)
