Saying "Thanks for your service" seems to fall short of the appreciation we want to express, but it's what we have. You have sacrificed so much for our country and freedom.

This is what we watch every year to commemorate.
Fantastic film: They Shall Not Grow Old
There is a picture of one young lad who stares at the camera in his company as they wait for the order to advance. The other men are pensive, some are talking to each other. But this one boy looks like he is terrified, but was told to smile for the camera. He wears a forced expression that makes his fear stand out.
