The experts were baffled, though in this case it may have been appropriate to say they were gobsmacked.

Isn't that the second definition of lobbyists?

But enough about Donald Trump...

Where can a Water Bag Bryozoan go to just be left alone? Hiding under the floating island seemed like a good idea.

Improved headline:

BI-GENDERED BYOZOAN BLOBS BAFFLE BOFFINS

You're welcome, Netherlands.

You probably won't hear TV beauty product infomercials describing their clients' complexions as ' glowing ' anymore.

Old West cowboy insult #26:

"You ain't nuthin' but a creepy glowing orange sack of self-cloning hermaphrodite slime!"

The Sun is hyping this and getting it wrong, as usual. Thousands of species of bryozoans are common in salt water worldwide. The ±50 fresh water species are "rare" only by comparison.

The main picture uses forced perspective of a blob in sunlight. Look at the third picture for a more typical bryozoan colony.

We have lots of these in NH lakes. If you leave a rope or branch in the water for a few months, it's likely to have some slimy jelly-like colonies of them (Pectinatella magnifica) growing along it.

Welcome to the blobs, blog.

Secure the borders.

I saw the movie with Steve McQueen!
