A responsive poem by my digital friend, Claude:

An Ode to Eating Insects

Oh, have you heard the latest craze?
Crickets are the new food phase!
Forget your beef, your pork, your chicken,
These crunchy bugs are truly kickin'.

Just picture it, a plate of grubs,
Wriggling there like little clubs.
Or maybe some sautéed crickets,
Seasoned up with herbs and thickets.

It may sound strange, it may seem vile,
But these protein-packed pests are in style.
High in nutrients, low in fat,
They're the sustainable meat where it's at.

So bid adieu to boring old bacon,
Give those chicken wings a break-in.
It's time to try something brand new -
Insect cuisine, through and through!

Crickets and mealworms, they're the biz,
The future of food, so don't you miss
This tasty trend that's taking over -
A bug-based diet, how's that for clever?

*applauds Alan West*

But hold it. Why are crickets okay but a slab of Bossie isn't?

For a great breakfast, I just add some cricket powder to my kale smoothie.

What is Alan West doing on Dave Berry's Blog? (But he's welcome here.)
