She only explained the difference between a live clam versus dead/uninhabited shells to her children after getting fined ..? Like she couldn't teach them that when they showed them to her?

It was later announced each of the 72 collected clams were fined an undisclosed amount for unlawful use of a gas powered leaf blower.
