No, BIG NO. I worked there for many years. Most government jobs feature long lunches, leave a little early, spend a lot of time talking socially with colleagues. I was in 4 agencies and it was always that way. An exception is Congress because it is so disorganized Members and staff frequently work 12 hour days. Also, law firms work people to death, but the monetary rewards are large. But for most people working for Uncle Sam, it's all coasting.
