Well, the photo is of an octopus, not a squid, and they have eight arms. Squid have eight arms and two tentacles. No squid has 14 arms. And the only evidence of life in Lake Vostok has been micro-organisms.
I don't think Vlad's getting his money's worth on this weapon. I think his yes-men are telling him all this nonsense, probably after partying with the best vodka Vlad's rubles can buy.

Well, Putin won’t be the first evil genius that overreached himself. But what good will it do him in his war if he and his armies die gibbering at the Mountains of Madness?
He should do a little cost-benefit analysis.
