" One person who knows how hard it is to build an earthworm-type robot that can burrow is Yasemin Ozkan-Aydin..."

Her friends just call her Yas.

Or we could use worms.

Will robotic worms someday replace Congress?

The spice must flow.

They are going to get you one way or another - re: the old saying "The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out, the worms crawl over your eyes and snout ..." Does not say that these 'worms' can't be robotic. Just one more bit of evidence that the animal kingdom will eventually rule all. But you get to pick your demise - defecating on toilet snakes, sleeping with reptiles, eaten by feral hogs, eaten by rats - sort of like nature is a smorgasbord and you are on the menu.

Are they good for catching robotic fish?

That thing in the photo doesn't look like a worm as much as it does something you'd find in a sex shop.

Do Robotic Worms Dream of Real Sheep?
