According to the Jerusalem Post, the creature was the size of a single possum.

Shortly after this happened the store changed it's "Today's Special" sign.

He was just looking for his relatives. If it was a female then she was just looking for her young. When interviewed by the local news, Ms Possum said "We were just playing possum. You know, hide and seek sort of."

I'm guessing she was scoping out how to create Possum Helper.
