FASHION UPDATE
Woman in Philippine Air Force goes viral for gown made of 17,000 soda can pull tabs
(Thanks to MOTW)
Didn't pull tabs go away in, like, the 70s? (Perhaps the story explains, but here at the blog we are too busy posting stories to actually read them.)
Didn't Coke pull Tab in the 90's?

Dave, that is true, but it might be semantics for this lady.
Pull tabs came out in March 1963 and lasted a bit more than 10 years.
Stay tabs were introduced in 1975 and remain in
use today.
I was excavating in my garden last year and actually found an old pull tab. Weird feeling to see that after all these years.

The caught her when she tried to go to work and the metal detector went off. "Do you have any metal objects on or in your body?"

One of the great failures in American marketing was the late-'70s Coors can with no tab at all. There was a triangular area on the top with two tiny little bumps on either side that were weaker parts of the top. You punched these with your thumb to break the seal, then used your finger to push the triangular tab down into the beer.
One of the dumbest ideas ever. It was in the wake of this that the current style of opening tab gained favor.
