Slow news day? It's a farm. If there are animals there, there WILL be flies all over it, so not my fault.

The Minnesota Zoo has flamingos as well.
Apparently you have to trim their feathers periodically to keep them from flying away.
This point was driven home one day when one of the zoo keepers found the foot of one of the flamingos in the Komodo Dragon's cage.

I'm gobsmacked.

@JG Are you saying that I failed to keep a leg up against the many threats here in the zoo & fell asleep on the wrong leg awakening on the wrong side of the bars?

Since you brought up the subject of flying, I want to recount a story that appeared in a Dave Barry column from years and years ago. It went something like this, and the names have been changed cause I cannot remember what they were. So here goes:
"A jumbo jet airliner crashed into a cemetery just outside of Paris. Emergency response workers recovered 11,000 bodies."
At least I got the 11,000 bodies right. Thanks Dave for one of those things that will be stuck in my demented brain to the very end.

The flamingo in the photo looks like it's trying to see what it just stepped in.
