WE HATE TO BE THE COAL IN ANYBODY'S STOCKING, BUT...

...here's the Year in Review.

Yeah, 2022 pretty much sucked big time, so you nailed it.

Merry Christmas to all.

Yep, 2022 is best summarized as one big paywall that was impossible to avoid no matter how hard you tried.

You nailed it.

@Asher- someone posted Dave's review in the comments under the Christmas card.

But I rather prefer to believe that 2022 did not exist, I had an extended blackout.

In some ways, having everything behind a paywall, so that you could choose whether or not to be exposed to it, is a very good idea. Let's start with Washington, DC.

So I found a way around it. Its called incognito mode, which unfortunately did not work for 2022.

I appreciate you left out crazy loon Ye West.

I was duly gobsmacked when running into the paywall. But I’m thankful to have come across the copy that someone had posted earlier.

Thanks again, Dave. Your review is always worth waiting for.

Great review, Dave! Although I am gobsmacked there is no mention of the current rapid spread of gobsmacking.

I second Asher in appreciating that you ignored the loon. As well as his former wife and anyone remotely connected with her.

That was petty great. After reading I had a dream last night a huge aircraft from the future was flying in front of me. I surmised this aircraft was set out to destroy mankind, or at least Delaware. I was in my car. I could feel the exhaust which was very hot and started to worry. The tail of the craft was a Murder Hornet's tail swing from side to side spewing hot exhaust and was wicked enough looking I can now call the entire incident a nightmare. I awoke out of the nightmare and thought, "Dave Barry caused this." "Him and his damn Year in Review." Then I came to my senses and realized it was probably the effects of Nyquil chicken I had before going to bed last night.

Dave has a really great introspective into the country, especially it's political climate and his inner-directed feelings to mountain ranges like the Adirondacks.

If the editor has anything good to find about my comment, please do so.

The paywall is just my way of adjusting to the NWO by going digital. ...Gotcha!

If you can get the Washington Post, they had it this morning.

Try this...

Great review Dave! You definitely nailed it and I'm sure 2023 will be a newer, brighter year. I'm not sure who it will be brighter for but I'm going to stay optimistic.

Gobsmacking brilliance Dave.

Thanks for the laughs. I always appreciate how you skewer both sides.
Say hi to Judi if she’s still not fired.

It's 80 degrees out here on the Best Coast right now.

What is this thing you call a "jacket"?

Merry Christmas!

Department of Christmas cards I receive, but have no intention of sending a card back in return.

I drove to the office this morning to move a refrigerator down several steps into the locked gate awaiting next Monday when the city has us on schedule of pick it up and dispose of it. I had no help which should demonstrate just how powerfully I am built.

So, I open the mailbox which I had not checked for several days and it was full of stuff including several Christmas Cards. I immediately noticed one of the cards was clearly addresses to our address, but not to anyone who works there. I while later sometime after I had power-lift the refrigerator down the steps and into the gate, Mrs man tom was opening the cards when she said, "someone sent me $20." I went to the desk and looked at the envelope and the card was addressed to our address, it was the card I noticed when I took it from the mailbox. The inside of the card read something to the effect,

Go buy yourself something nice, you deserve it.

I have the 20 spot. Restored my faith in mankind, who can be really stupid sometimes, this holiday season.

Echoing GJ: Gobsmackingly brilliant!

Happy to see the "No Politics" rule vacated for at least one day.

It's a bipartisan national circus and merits skewering.

Nice job Dave!

I read the WaPo Online, Year In Review and chuckled a few times. Do I now have to pay $100? How much is that per chuckle?

A view from afar: thanks, Dave, for your wonderful review, and for all the good work you've done during the year.
A quibble: no mention of Roe vs Wade, which was such a milestone. As soon as it passed, Republican states jumped in and gleefully outlawed abortions. This, more than anything else, is what stopped the Red Wave: if people have to choose between inflation and banning abortions, they'll choose inflation. Of course, no Republican politician would consider for a moment that he/she caused the problem.
Happy New Year!

@The RB: I’m gobsmacked by your analysis. While returning the abortion issue to the states to decide was likely a factor in the midterm election results, I’m sure the Republicans’ knack for running horrible candidates was a factor, and also the President’s promise of forgiving student loans, however unlikely the fulfillment of that promise might be. It seems to me, though, that all is fair in love, war, and now politics. I wish the latter weren’t so. I can’t fault Dave for steering clear of this one issue, though he may well fault me for offering a response.

Whatever the case, best wishes to you all as we look to the start of a new year.

It's high time this Blog takes on the issue of abortion during the Christmas & Hanukkah season!!!

Next year, let's resolve to limit the political discussions to Festivus.

Giddy-up!

And what about putting ketchup on a hotdog 🌭 ???

No true American ever desecrates a patriotic wiener with ketchup!!!

And who the hell ever came up with spelling ketchup as c-a-t-s-u-p???

Damn commies trying to turn this great country upside down.
