I have the same issues with The Little Drummer Boy. I consider it a triumph of the season if I have been able to avoid hearing it at the grocery store.

Let's hope they don't get drunk and spend it all on face tattoos.

There are so many *horrible sounding* compilations, I dare not call them songs, on the radio theses days. I can not find an FM station worth listening too which I can pipe throughout the office speakers. I have an old 100w per Pioneer receiver hooked up to play all throughout the office. Each day, I hear some of most god-awful stuff the stations are playing. I have given up trying to find some decent music on FM. I keep the volume vey low. I hear the songs while working and cringe. I think, "I hope no one is in the waiting room to hear this crap." Today's pop music artists should all be jailed. Long ago, I had a tape of me playing acoustic guitar I would play over the sound system. That was a long time ago and I never got any complaints. Maybe I should try again.

Slim Whitman, anyone? And while I’m on the subject, where has Le Petomane gone to again?
Posted by: Mad Hatter | December 23, 2022 at 10:04 PM
I am concerned about Le Petomane too. We are in need of a 'story'.

@man tom - Well, here’s a story, then. One December many years ago I was gigging at an Irish pub in Tokyo when a handsome Norwegian-looking man stepped up to request a song. He went straight down to the bottom of the barrel in my estimation, though, when what he requested was...you guessed it...Last Christmas by Wham.
Posted by: Mad Hatter | December 24, 2022 at 02:09 AM
I have never heard the song by Wham that I know of. I'll look it up.
This is pretty much how I feel about current songs. I also very much dislike any 'modern' artist doing 'cover' songs which were popular years ago. Some of these cover songs are absolutely atrocious. Like, 'wow that woman really butchered that, whatever that was supposed to be.'
Oh, I looked up the Wham song. Never heard it, ever. You were giggling at a pub? I used to laugh at lot at watering holes.
Best watering hole juke box song ever.

@man tom - Gigging, not giggling. LOL (Or did you do that on purpose?) But that Willie Nelson song has been in my repertoire for almost fifty years.

My fav Christmas song is Robert Earl Keen's "Merry Christmas from the family." "Mama got drunk, Daddy got drunk at our Christmas party." HoHo, redneck Santa all the way!

How about some dark humor?
One Christmas morning
Found Santa quite dead
Nearby six tiny reindeer
shot through the head
A sign on a tree
“That’s the last time he’ll run
over Grandma last night
That’s the last of his fun.”

@madhatter - so you are a lounge (Pub) singer. Do you ever travel to make an appearance here? I'm picturing Yoko Ono as your center backup singer. Also one of the Pip's. I am not familiar, nor have I ever been, to a Karaoke Bar. Don't you have to be especially drunk and a very lousy singer to participate? I would not put up with it for even 20 seconds. Gone. Nothing puts me in the mood like a bunch of drunks singing to Wham!.

@madhatter - A stateside Breaking News report has just come over the wires.
A 4-car crash reported in El Paso today, with 86 confirmed dead.
*You do remember where El Paso is located, right? Texas? How about here?

What a good idea. I think I'll try it with Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime.
