Scientists Create Yeast With Important Human Genes

(Thanks to Suzie Q Wacvet, who says "Shall we send it to Washington?"; and Ralph, who says "What can go wrong?")

Yeast with human characteristics? That means we can make beer that can drink itself? I had friends in college that may have already accomplished that.

Human Muscle Gene wrote an autobiography titled ‘Secrets of a Sparrow’. In this book, Gene reveals that she suffered from anorexia nervosa. Gene has blamed suffering from this eating disorder on the pressure she and The Supremes were put under by Motown and Berry Gordy in the late 1960s. This is a condition from which Ross no longer suffers.

Whoops! I wasn't paying attention. My bad.

Does this mean that Comet Pizza is gonna have a cannibal menu?

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Quote: "there are a lot of similarities between yeast and a human being."

I knew it! That's why I feel bloated!

@C. Robbin - I have a distinct memory of the old Hollywood Squares. Peter Marshall asked Paul Lynde if yogurt had feelings. Due to passage of time, I have forgotten the answer, but I do remember laughing. He and Phyllis Diller were my favorites.

In the not too distant future, you make an appointment to see your doc about a recurring yeast infection. At the appointment, you describe your symptoms, and she agrees that its yeast and that it is back in your life. This time, she offers a different but extra-strong medication that will kill it permanently. This is when a voice from your lower region yells out, "Hey, I'm right here! I can hear you talking about me!" Your doctor bends down has has a conversation with your sentient yeast infection and learns that it doesn't like its situation either and insists that the doctor prescribe a drug to permanently eliminate the human host from its life.

Your treatment is delayed for weeks while the State Medical Ethics Board argues about the rights of the human-yeast hybrid to live and receive life-sustaining medical care.

The professor of useless studies at Flathead U. claims this is an excellent example of destructive reverse engineering.

Yeast was the main ingredient in human evolution. Cavemen accidentally dumped some yeast and honey into water and mead was invented. The alcohol stimulated the smart genes to flourish and also destroyed the useless ones.

Therefore, fermented beverages such as beer have been responsible for the growth of all human development. Yeast is a most valuable substance and should be cherished and not messed with. It's surprising that some scientists haven't figured this out. The best explanation is a few scientists are teetotalers.

I saw Bread-Machine open for Yeast with Gene Autry in Vegas.

What could possibly go wrong?

Yeast infecting Washington is quite common, I think.
