A man who became famous in Turkiye three years ago by flying with a giant umbrella being blown by strong winds has announced his intention to become an astronaut and "the first Turk to go into space".

An umbrella won't cut it in space, no wind, no atmosphere. I don't believe Mary Poppins ever flew to more than a few hundred feet of altitude.

If he had relieved himself the last time he was airborn, that item would have already been scratched off his bucket list.

As God as my witness, I thought that Turks could fly.

"That's one small step for Tayyip, one giant leap for Kocadalli."
