No one would have said anything if it was a celebrity Emu...

Stand by for the Liberty Mutual jokes...

Mysterious as in "we thought we caught the emu, but 'e moved"?

Yes Virginia, there IS a mysterious emu, and it's NOT a partridge in a pear tree.

Apparently this is not a Masked Singer. Here is a lesson on How To Groom Your Emu.

Probably just one of our Texas emus from 25 years ago that just wandered up to Virginia.

Does this mean those stupid Liberty Mutual commercials will finally stop?

I will defend the Liberty Mutual ads featuring Limu the Emu. I would argue they are beyond stupid as to be comedic. They're like the stupidest joke you've ever heard.....times 10, but laughed anyway. I'm also a fan of MST3K.

Rod is referring to the Emu investment craze of the 1990's.
I knew a retired couple out of San Angelo, Texas that invested their retirement nest egg buying 2 breeding pair of emus for $48,000 per pair. A few years later the emu market, which consisted of selling emus to other fools, collapsed. You couldn't get anyone to haul them off for free.
The couple I knew just opened the gate, set fire to the emu shelter, sold the farm and moved to some town in Montana. Never heard from them again. The emus have been wondering free for years now.

Le Pet - on a car trip around Puget Sound in 1998, we stopped for lunch in Port Ludlow (I think). Following Road Rule #2 - Eat at places with a lot of local license plates in the parking lot - we picked such a place. I tried the Emu Burger. (I'll try anything once.) I was not impressed.

@pogo - Queen Victoria also tried the Emu Burger and pronounced herself “not emused.”
