Wasn't this a story line on Resident Alien? Not sure if scientists are writing that show or comedians are writing scientific papers these days.

How long before our octopus overlords find their way to Washington?

The octopus is already running things there, and one could say that the Citizens are In a state of Angst.

Of course, given the explanation in the paper, pretty much everything is an alien, including us.

It really doesn't matter where in the multiverse the octopus comes from as long as it's prepared well. I may have jumped the gun here. Are Australian octopi venomous? That would require special protective measures. However, here are some great recipes for a regular octopus we can serve now.

Le Pet, the blue-ringed octopus, which indeed does live in Australia, is one of the deadliest animals on earth. If one bites you, you'll likely die before you can get to a hospital.
