So Maryland officials are trying to head off more house fires if homeowners should conclude the technique was successful?

I'm sure the neighbors are thrilled to hear this, because you know the snakes aren't returning to that house. When I lived in that area, I had a big black snake under the porch who kept down the rodent population until the HOA drone vaporized him.
