The Christchurch City Council will stop paying The Wizard $16,000 a year after more than two decades on the public payroll to “provide acts of wizardry” for the city.

When a wizard says he "doesn't like to be cancelled" there could be trouble brewing for Christchurch, New Zealand.

How long before the Yellow Brick Road is littered with potholes? (And during a Mercury-in-retrograde period, not the best of moves.) I predict a long, dark summer for Christchurch.

I heard the contract went to Gandolf the Grey.

"They are a bunch of bureaucrats who have no imagination," he said.

Seeing as he's convinced the city to pay him $368,000 to date, I'd say he is definitely an expert on the subject.

I'm sorry, but what are we paying this guy for? There have been TWO earthquakes on his watch(in 2010 and 2011)! Or were they warnings of worse to come if they didn't keep paying?

“The promotional landscape in Ōtautahi Christchurch is changing, with new and different promotional programmes that will increasingly reflect our diverse communities and showcase a vibrant, diverse, modern city that is attractive to residents, domestic and international visitors, new businesses, and skilled migrant workers.”

"By Grabthar's hammer .. .. .. what a savings."

Well, I guess that crosses that place off the bucket list.

He was keeping the COVID infection rate really low.

Surely a wizard who can conjure up a third of a million bucks out of thin air can do something about the snakes. Offer to double his stipend if there are no new snakes-in-the-toilet type stories. Maybe he could hold a seance and ask St. Patrick how he made iit safe to go to the loo again Ireland.

Math-Yoda--I believe there were no snakes in New Zealand. Well, up to now there were no snakes. The wizard could be due a huge raise in pay to get shed of the new infestation.

I saw him perform decades ago. He's priceless.

More Wizardry

Man, did I miss my calling.
