This is just another episode of RENO 911. Pretty much all equipment they use in Reno is stolen.

This happens is Season 4 of "The Wire". Goofball cop decides to be a hero by recording the bad guy boss with an expensive (~2005) "borrowed" department video camera hidden near their meeting place. Bad guys find the camera while the cop is walking away. Cop tries to threaten the bad guys to get the (expensive "borrowed" department) camera back ... things go downhill ...
