A hamster operated generator would be good to have, but the cat hazard will keep it from being a widespread power source. Also, every time the lead hamster fell off the treadmill, we would suffer a power outage. And on the subject of clean energy, the bottom of a hamster cage is toxic waste.

Given all the drawbacks it's still a better idea than a wind turbine powered by cow farts.

That is some expensive cabinet-grade plywood being used for the contraption. I'm sure the hamsters would be insulted with less fancy materials.
