Are we sure that it's not a fossilized mammoth foreskin?

Now the scientists can extract the DNA and clone some vampire squids for closer study. After all, what could possibly go wrong?

we should introduce vampire squid to some of those tasty huntsman spiders.

In UK until 1968 squid was a common form of currency/payment.
