Maybe he was a fan of Soupy Sales? Remember Philo Kvetch and his arcy-enemy The Mask? How about The Mask's henchman, Onions Oregano?

/goes to look for where he left the geezer bus

For crying out loud, this smells to high heaven of another police sting operation turned sour.

Bribery can take on many forms in other parts of the world. Some things can be better than money.

But he should have held out for Oreos or something like that.

The policeman didn't like being around people and he had heard that an apple a day keeps the doctor away, so an onion a day should keep everyone away.

Upon conviction, offenders can be jailed up to 10 years, or fine (sic), or whipping or any of the two.

I would rather be fine, otherwise the others would made ya cry for sure.
