Mysterious metal object found in Utah desert

(Thanks to Ralph, MOTW and Roberto, who says "I'm not saying it's aliens. But it is aliens.")

Here's the official report from the Utah Department of Public Safety, which states: "It is illegal to install structures or art without authorization on federally managed public lands, no matter what planet you’re from."

(Thanks to Not My Usual Alias, who says "Our alien overlords need to abide by Utah state policy.")

Preparations for Festivus celebrations continue to spread across the nation.

Condolences go out to the brave officers who found this thing and have since been transformed into monkeys.

In this article, I love the scientific geek speak:
Biologist was like: 'Whoa, whoa, whoa, turn around, turn around!'
I was like, 'What.'
And he's like, 'There's this thing back there -- we've got to go look at it!'

Like, maybe the Monolith will, like, make this year's Gift Guide.

Of course, it can't be a monoLITH, because it's metal.

But anyway, if the music starts, better keep an eye out for proto-humans armed with bones.

Having lived in Utah all of the 90's, where I read the Blog's column in the Daily Spectrum every week, I'm not too surprised this would happen.

When I showed this article to the Roswell, New Mexico space aliens, they got all excited, started looking at the sky, waving their arms around and jabbering in some strange language and ran back to their house. I'm pretty sure it is strictly an alien problem and there's nothing we need to be concerned about. However this IS 2020...

Whatever it is, the Oregon DOT will be happy to remove it.

I bet the biologist that saw it is the one that put it there. He's also sick of hearing about the Coronavirus all the time so he thought he'd shake things up and give newscasters something else to talk about.

Isn't this the time in the movie when the monkeys go crazy... Or, has that already happened ?

Monolith update:
The Roswell aliens explained the monolith was an observation device from a rather nasty civilization of a planet in another solar system that is known to buy up distressed planets, fix them up and resell them at a profit. The people living on these planets are "gently relocated" so it's not totally bad.

The "Traders" as the aliens are called had completed their study of Earth and decided the Earth required too much expensive remediation be be a good investment, but they were appreciative to be reminded to pick up the monolith as they are rather expensive.

In other words, we're not worth invading.

Is it full of stars?

Someone on Reddit found it.
