He was just observing that classic seafaring lyric "Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum."
Should have let him go over the dam; that would have woken him up.

My brother used to work in southern IN. A couple of co-workers asked if he wanted to go fishing with them in their bass boat. He said he'd never really fished before. Then was said:
Co-Worker: "you like drinking beer don't you ?"
Brother: "yeah..."
co-worker: "Then you'll like fishing..."
The man in the article, I'm guessing, was an experienced fisherman.
