BUT IT WORKED: NOBODY STOLE THE CAR WHILE HE WAS DRIVING IT

The senior citizen behind the wheel Monday afternoon never removed the anti-theft device that locks the steering wheel in place before he took off and struck the gate in front of a home at the intersection of Western Avenue and Zabriskie Street.

So he never reached his destination, which we assume was Florida.

"True Jersey" indeed.

"Officer, I kept the steering wheel locked so the car wouldn't drift while I was texting."

He just thought it was an accessory, like those knobs people used to put on their steering wheels.

He probably couldn't see the Club because his bifocals were due for a new prescription.
