A transatlantic flight was forced to divert to the Republic of Ireland because a pilot spilled a cup of coffee on the aircraft's controls, it has emerged.

Condor Airline should have paid the extra few thousand Euros more to get the Airbus A330-253, which comes with cup holders (PLUS a kick-ass sound system!)

Uh-oh. It's just like the Pepsi Syndrome, and you know how that turned out.

Didn't they see the movie FATE IS THE HUNTER, starring Glenn Ford ? I'll get back on the bus now....

The 'pilot', Foster Brooks, used to drink only whiskey or beer. And he never spilled any hot coffee on his lap.

Good thinking. They have Irish coffee in Ireland.

He was out the day that they told everyone don't drink and drive.

Where was Otto, the emergency pilot?

@wanderer - who would be the volunteer to blow up Otto to his full functioning size?

Qaz - I agree, there should be a special compartment (locker) where a lawyer or politician would be stowed just for inflation of Otto. Everyone knows that lawyers and politicians are known for blowing thing out of proportion.

Put me in charge of the FAA for a day. I will require this pilot, before entering US airspace, to put a lid on his coffee and drink it through a straw.

Perhaps he was reacting to his co-pilot's fart?
