There was only room for one car at a time. And so the two cars sat, facing each other, and each one refused to budge. By the time the police arrived, the standoff had been going on for at least 20 minutes.

Surely the rule is that the person leaving has the right of way, much like the person exiting a subway or bus.

Reminds me of the story Dave posted a couple years about the two motorists who met on a one-lane bridge, and both refused to back up.

@Jeff, you'll never make it as a New Yorker -- no way does a person exiting a subway have the right of way.

This being Kansas (The Gateway to Oz) people likely brought lawn chairs and coolers to watch the thrilling outcome of this standoff.

Some people never learn to drive in reverse. This time two of them met.

Somebody should check that parking lot to see if there are two cars there with skeletons in the drivers' seats.
