Drunken WestJet passenger ordered to pay airline $21K in fuel costs

All I can say is, it's about effing time these disorderly passengers have to seriously pay up for the inconvenience they cause everyone else. Sorry, I don't have a humorous remark. Nail this jackass and everyone like him for everything they've got.

The story on USAToday states that the amount of fuel was "20,000 pounds". The Chicago Tribune tweeted the story; and in both the tweet and the online article, claimed "20,000 tons" of fuel.

There is no airplane that weighs 20,000 tons, even when empty.

On the bright side, there may be a Groupon for "Buy 10,000 pounds of jet fuel, get 10,000 free"...

Fair point, Elf, but I'd cut Chi-town some slack; they've been dangerously below freezing.

Agree with wanderer. I'm sorry "Mr. Young has battled alcoholism," but downing half a dozen drinks before taking off does not seem much of a battle to me.
No one can want him sober more than he does himself.
