First I'd like to point out that Randleman, NC is the hometown of Richard Petty and the Richard Petty Museum.
Also, even though I'm a law abiding citizen, if someone met up with me and said they had $10,000 on them, I'd probably be tempted to beat them up and steal their money too.
I wonder if his girlfriend knew they had an open relationship?
