Be afraid, bbe very afraid.

The fox squirrels that came to Grandma's bird feeder in northwestern Wisconsin tended to be redder than the one in that photo but shyer than the gray or small red squirrels. I think the all-black Ebert's squirrels that live in the Rocky Mountain foothills may be even larger but even shyer. The small red squirrels are the true terrorists of the squirrel world.

Once considered an endangered species, the number of Delmarva fox squirrels has recovered and the species now inhabits four counties of the Delmarva peninsula in Maryland. Still, you would be very unlikely to encounter one of these stealthy squirrels in the wild.

psst .. don't tell Prince Charles

I guess it is one of NurseCindy's genetic experiments. There are rumors on the internet that she is creating GMO squirrels to conquer the world.
I, for one, welcome our new squirrel overlords.

That is the poorest county in North Carolina; the squirrels are doing better than many people after Hurricane Florence flooded it again.

2 foot tall squirrels, chupacabra sightings, hurricanes: all I am saying is that the North Carolina Tourist Board has a lot to answer for.

I bet they been cross-breedin' with them 20-pound New York rats.
