Florida authorities have caught a huge lizard that has terrified residents of a suburban Miami neighborhood for months.

It's not so frightening if you picture it as a pair of cowboy boots and a suitcase.

Here in New Mexico capturing a lizard this size wouldn't make news. In Geezer Acres it would be reason for a fiesta.

A wildlife commission statement says the lizard will be returned to its owner, who received a criminal citation for its escape.

I'm confused. An 8-foot non-native lizard escaped and they gave it back? It he chipped? (I know, I know: he should be served with chips and dip.)

This time citation — next time barbecue...
