'HEY, MRS. HART. YOU KNOW I CAN GET YOU FIRED.'

Kindergartners and first-graders stabbing others with pencils, trashing classrooms and threatening teachers were among the many concerns raised at Monday’s Orange School Committee meeting.

"I got your times table right here."

This is the town used last year as the set for Stephen King's "Castle Rock," and I am not making this up.

The only answer to that student (assuming that dangling him or her out a second story window by the foot is not an option) is, "Go ahead, kid. Make my day."

Thufferin' thuccotash!

If a kindergarten student tells you they can get you fired there are two good responses. The first one is, "Promise?". The second one is, "You know Santa Claus died don't you?". My daughter is a kindergarten teacher and they had to attend a special class on how to properly restrain an out of control student. I've offered my services to help them with out of control students but so far they haven't called me. To be honest the students aren't the big problem. It's the parents.

I can't improve on Leonard Bernstein:

Dear kindly Sergeant Krupke
Ya gotta understand
It’s just our bringin’ upke
That gets us outta hand
Our mothers all are junkies
Our fathers all are drunks
Golly Moses natcherly we’re punks

If I remember my Ed classes correctly, teachers need good lesson plans to fix these problems. I left education about 36 years ago.

@MOTW, I always preferred the wise words of the Oompa-Loompas (composed by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley):

"Who do you blame when your kid is a brat?
Pampered and spoiled like a siamese cat.
Blaming the kids is a lie and a shame.
You know exactly who's to blame --
The mother and the father."

Unfortunately, the use of duct tape is no longer permitted. It was very effective for short periods when I was teaching in the 70's.

What a bunch of little Athols.

"I don't understand. They said all 3 of my children were ADD, but they have different fathers."
Quote from parent/ teacher conference.

Good news! The entire school has been invited to a free pizza night at that famous kids pizza place!
