Of course it didn't happen in Australia. Pythons aren't venomous.

Years ago a friend and I were surveying some rock outcrops in Arizona. We decided to spend the night in our sleeping bags as the weather was glorious. When the sun came peeking up I stated to get up when my companion whispered for me not to move. Then I saw a large rattlesnake laying stretched out alongside his sleeping bag. In a few minutes, when the sun came out, the rattler just calmly crawled away with no problem. He said the snake had been there at least an hour.
I never asked him, but I believe my companion had to buy a new sleeping bag.

That's a good story, Le Pet.
All in all, I would say that waking up with a python next to you in bed is better than not waking up at all.
