Some years ago I was looking over a uranium deposit in Eastern Utah. Suddenly the sky went dark and this huge golden eagle came swooping down just over my head, picked up a big rattlesnake( that I hadn't seen) and took it airborn. The eagle circled to get about 500 ft. elevation then dropped the snake on some rocks. This is how birds of prey kill snakes to eat. This particular hawk must have preferred his snake cooked.
