For the past 20 years I've actually been clinging to a similar hope; that it would not be beyond the realms of possibility that somewhere outside of our own universe lies another different universe — and in that universe, boy bands don't exist.

Somewhere there may be a universe full of hideous monsters who like boy bands, and we can only hope they never find out our universe exists.

I like Hawking's initial response to the question: "Finally, a question about something important ..." He's made some appearances on Big Bang Theory and apparently honed his comedy chops. He's a good sport with the kidding about his condition (the cast was thrilled when he was on set), and dishes it out to Sheldon as well: "Neener, neener ..." after he beat Sheldon at a game.

So this Zayn chap is straight (1D), but only in a POSSIBLE universe. These are parlous times indeed.

a hopeless case if --- listen: there's a hell
of a good universe next door; let's go"
