Perhaps she was looking for a thrill not normally associated with riding an escalator?

I was in Wuhan, Hubei, PRC in 1986 when the first escalator was being installed at the big department store in town. Detailed instructions were written... many people assigned to keep users safe... My students were disappointed when I wasn't thrilled by the development.
Many Amish and similar groups pass through Union Station in Chicago. I had a great conversation with one of the elders about riding escalators. He saw the folks rushing up and down and wondered if his flock could navigate them safely as newbies.
I pointed out that when people see the large red bags from the American Girl Doll store, they hold off charging ahead until the families can get off at the end safely. "Besides," I added, "The English could use a reminder to be polite." The elder laughed.

But the time and exact location of the incident - along with the fate of the unfortunate shopper - remain unknown.
I think it happened about 07/20/2012 at 15:42:00, but that's just a guess.

'... after a few tentative touches of the rail, she is yanked off the ground and pulled upwards, with her legs astride the rotating belt'

Good thing she had a friend to ride right behind her to keep her from falling over the wrong side of the rail. My friends would prolly take a video and publish it.
oneblank: I noticed that, too. We are left to wonder why this has been published now ..
Has the date/time been incorrect for years because no one knows how to reset it?
Or was Security reviewing
really
footage for suspects?I thought that survelliance camera recordings were kill/fill (re-used). Hmmm
