The French train operator SNCF has discovered that 2,000 new trains it ordered at a cost of 15bn euros ($20.5bn; £12.1bn) are too wide for many regional platforms.

This should make those of us who don't speak metric, even the French who invented the metric system don't understand it.

Until recently, I was contributing to the problem of trains needing to be wider to fit my backside.

Not so much anymore. It's good to see that the French are growing like Americans.

I guess they were distracked...

Well, that should keep the Germans from following the Schlieffen Plan again.

Hey, it happens, we get a little older, we eat too many snails, and then we can't fit into the old platform.
(And for those who were wondering, yes, snails were the only thing I could come up with on a few seconds notice).

We'll always have Paris...

just run them into the station really fast and it will all smooth out in a month or two..
