Beware spruikers who just 'feed the chooks'

I actually read the entire article and it is no more coherent than the headline. Do Australian newspapers have something against editors? I thought Australia was populated with the descendants of undesirables deported from England, surely that group would have had a large population of copy editors.

As an American who moved to Australia a few years ago, I have to say that the word "spruik" is actually very handy. There's no exactly equivalent word in American English. It sort of means to push something on someone in a marketing-type way - kind of like "hawking" merchandise in US terms but as its very own unique word.

It is obvious that English, in many cases, does not translate well into English.

So spruiker is a synonym for Congressman?
