Seems to me that glowing roaches would be a swift evolutionary dead end.

Yeah Clankie...since they scatter when the lights go on, they'd be constantly running away from themselves and each other.
Might be fun to watch, but I'm not going to invite glowing roaches for dinner...in-laws are bad enough.
