Good for him! I like to think most anyone would have done the same thing. I have a feeling Hallandale Beach is going to look like a ghost town until they bring him back.

Merely one more reason to never visit Florida ... the "company" puts money ahead of lifesaving ... but why am I not surprised?
(Yeah, I comprehend the rationale behind "he left his post" ... as P'B' sez, that rationalization holds about as much liquid as a sieve ...

He may not have had a valid Florida driver's license...

Unless he had a contract, he has no legal recourse. He has no protection under Florida law about at-will employment. Florida does not have the usual "public policy" exception.

Latest news is that two other lifeguards have quit in protest.
Good for them.
Rules are rules, but as a former regulator I can tell you that sometimes they're ridiculous.
