Who did she have the affair with? Mussolini? That's the only reasonable explanation for why he can't forgive her.

It was Wartime. 'Nuff said.

"So, slut, was it worth it?"
"I can't remember!"

Sicilians don't take no sh** from nobody!!! Or so I was told by my Italian friend.

It said "1940s" but Italy surrendered in 1943. (Whereupon they declared war on the new losers, the Germans, instead of the old losers, the French)
So maybe she just had one of those suave Italian lovers.

They should at least consider staying together for the sake of the great-great-grandchildren.

Time doesn't heal all wounds, after all.

Believe it or not, I can see his point.
It would be like finding that your life had been one, long lie.
I asked a philandering friend once how he would feel if he found that his wife were doing the exact same thing he was while he was with his girlfriend.
He said it would kill him.
I called him a hypocrite and he agreed.
His wife did desperate things to keep him. I couldn't help but wonder why? She knew who he was.
The marriage failed.

Also, he will soon be dead.

I hope he tracks down the no good SOB and beats the hell out of him

I am shamelessly promoting Gene Weingarten's desire to win an AK-47. Please click here to assist him in his pursuit.

I'm betting it was this guy.

Psst...Jeff > he was 10 years old in 1936. If she had an affair with HIM, there would be a lot more to worry about.
Posted by: Guin | December 29, 2011 at 08:40 PM
It was the 1940's, Guin. Could have been 1949, right?
Posted by: Jeff Meyerson | December 29, 2011 at 11:07 PM
That's kind of old.

Re: "Time doesn't heal all wounds, after all," if he just now found out about the affair, the wound is still fresh.
I think I'm with Steve on this one.

*whacks self* Berlusconi was ten in 19FORTYSIX. 4-6. *smack*
Posted by: Guin | December 30, 2011 at 07:00 AM
So, 1949 - 13 - could have started early?
Anyway, I didn't think I needed to add an "only kidding" there but maybe I did.
Let's be honest here, if you read the whole article this was just the tipping point. He left her once ten years ago. I agree he might well feel betrayed (though I would reserve judgment until I was sure he hadn't screwed around over the years), but if they had a good marriage things might not have ended up this way.
That said, we know at least one seeminly happy couple who just split up after 30+ years.

Oh, Jeff, ouch. >< That really sucks.
Guin - DONE! I <3 Gene. :)

He was going to go kill the guy, but that guy was already dead.
