Whatever happened to professional courtesy?
I suspect that one of the farmers raised snakes and wanted to give the tax office a share of his assets.

No, snakes are clean and serve a useful purpose in the ecosystem. The IRS is more like blood-sucking vermin. Like the Seattle office new hires.
