More time spent on that means less time for groping air travelers, I say.

Please put your turkey in a 10 qt clear plastic bag before frying.

I'm sure tonight's local news will show at least one moron who set his house on fire while deep frying a turkey. Last night they showed a group of people who were camping out in front of Best Buy so they could get a good deal on a flat screen TV. Best Buy doesn't open until 6 a.m. Friday morning. Idiots.

It sounds like they have too much time on their hands.

I prefer my turkey roasted.

I'm doing up a duck ... wait, what?

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Much easier to stuff it in the engine compartment and drive 300 miles to Grandma's.

We've paid for this same warning at least 5 times. Grrr. The CPSC, FDA, USDA, HSA and Department of Redundant Redundancy made the same warnings.

Shatner's from State Farm was the best.

"Shatner's from State Farm was the best."

I'd like to see the one from Geico, where they deep-fry a duck.

I posted this story before, but it bears repeating today.

A reliable eyewitness source told be that a person attempted to deep fry the turkey, realizing that the temperature was too low after a few hours. Attempting to save the day, our brain surgeon decided to toss the oil-soaked bird on the bbq grill.

One blogger helpfully pointed out that the technical term for what happened is flashover.

The turkey became a flaming projectile when it took one last flight. Unfortunately, the event was not captured on video.

This turkey doesn't look to be very tasty. Yuck. People seem to think that they must invest in every gadget known to man. Just cook it the ole fashioned way. What's wrong with the oven?

Actually, I like deep fried turkey Theresa. I didn't want to try it the first time I saw it because I don't really like turkey. But it's very moist. Fortunately my male relatives know how to fry one without causing too much property damage. It also cooks quicker when you fry it. btw, alcohol should not be involved when frying a turkey. I suspect that's what happened to the guy in NMUA's post. Smoked turkey is also very good but takes a lot longer to cook.

This wasn't the Department of Homeland Security's video. They just linked to it. UL Labs is a private company.

Still awesome.

Indeed, fried turkey (when done properly) is awesome.

When done incorrectly, a danger to us all.

Hey, respect the bird. Benjamin Franklin wanted the
turkey, and not the eagle, to be America's symbol.

In many ways, unofficially, it is. Think of all the "turkeys" in office.

Happy birthday, Jeff

Hey, what Elon said! Happy Birthday!

FYI: Food for thought...
"I am on this account, not displeas'd that the Figure is not known as a Bald Eagle, but looks more like a Turk'y. For in Truth the Turk'y is in comparison a much more respectable bird, and withal a true original native of America.... He is, (though a little vain and silly, it is true, but not the worse emblem for that,) a Bird of Courage, and would not hesitate to attack a grenadier of the British Guards, who should presume to invade his Farm Yard with a red Coat on. "

The story came from Japan. I thought they cooked sushi for Thanksgiving.

Every time you cook sushi, a ninja cries.

When did the pilgrims land in Japan?

I want to take this opportunity to wish Dave and his family, judi, and all you lovely and crazy blog people that I've come to adore throughout the years, a very Happy Thanksgiving. I know I'm not here as often as I once was but that doesn't mean I don't come by regularly to read your funny comments. I am thankful for this blog and for the friendships that I've gained because of it. I hope you all have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving. I would post the traditional "WKRP Turkey Drop" video but I can't find the whole one on YouTube. Enjoy!!

What Siouxie said. <3

Ditto.

Siouxie made me cry! I am also thankful for this blog. I've had a very tough year and I don't how I would have handled it without all the witty and wonderful comments here. You all are the best.

I shouldn't drink and blog, but - I LOVE YOU GUYS. And girls. And dogs. And cats. Even the squirrels.
